The NC State Fair's Hunger Relief Day puts the "fun" in fundraiser. You and your family can get free admission to the fair on Thursday simply by donating food.

About 12% of North Carolinians experience food insecurity. Out of that 12%, 1 in 6 of those individuals is a child or teen under the age of 18.

You can help change that by going to the State Fair Thursday. When you pitch in for Hunger Relief Day, you also get free admission to the fair. All you have to do is bring six cans of food to donate.

Bring your donations to any gate in exchange for free admission to the fair.

Hunger Relief Day has turned into one of the largest single-day food drives in the state. It started at the State Fair in 1993.

Since then, fairgoers have donated more than 6 million pounds of food to help families across North Carolina.

All donations benefit the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and hundreds of its partner agencies.

Right now, many families are experiencing the impact of extreme inflation and the rising costs of food. Head over to the State Fair and enjoy free family fun while helping the community.
