Help break world's largest swim lesson record

Kids ages 3 to 14 are invited to help the city of Raleigh's aquatics department be part of an effort to break the record for the world's largest swimming lesson on June 3.

The event at Optimist Pool in Raleigh is part of an international effort to break the record. More than 100 aquatics facilities around the world are involved. The goal of The World's Largest Swimming Lesson is to build awareness about swimming, water safety and the importance of teaching children to swim to help prevent drowning.

Drowning is the second leading cause of unintended injury-related death of kids ages 1 to 14. And if kids don't learn to swim by third grade, research has found that they likely never will.
