Raccoon carcass at restaurant lights up social media

Video showing a delivery of a raccoon carcass to a Scotland Neck Chinese food restaurant prompted a social media uproar on Thursday.

A customer of the restaurant took the video Wednesday night and posted it to Facebook. The video shows a man, whose shirt was covered in blood, carrying a bag with the carcass. Loud conversation can be heard before a store employee hands the man some money.

WRAL's 5 On Your Side contacted the restaurant owner who said the man was believed to be homeless, and they only gave him $5 so he would leave.

The owner said they immediately threw the carcass in the trash.

5 On Your Side also contacted the Halifax County Health Inspector who went to the restaurant this morning. The inspector found the bag in the dumpster, checked all of the meat in the restaurant and said the case is closed.
