Scuff marks and debris are still left from Monday's crash near the intersection of Six Forks and Sawmill Road where witnesses said it looked like the driver was trying to hit people, head on, in the middle of the afternoon.

Multiple witnesses told WRAL News Tuesday they were just moments away from being hit themselves.

Neal Justice drives up Six Forks Road almost every day, but he said Monday was nearly his last when the grey Honda came barreling down the wrong side of the road.

"A very high rate of speed," said Justice. "I was guessing maybe a hundred miles an hour."

Justice - afraid he was about to be hit - pulled over.

"My thing was to go up on the sidewalk and he came straight by me," said Justice "That shook me. I just sit still."

Two blocks later, still on the wrong side of the road, that Honda slammed into a Toyota.

"He just ran right into 'em. Head on," said Justice. "That's when my stomach just dropped."

The car started rolling.

Raleigh police said the driver of that Honda, 41-year-old Gabriel Jacobs was killed.

He hit three cars total in the crash - those drivers and passengers suffered either minor injuries or were able to walk away.

24 hours later, Justice said Jacobs looked like he was in control the entire time, driving down the wrong side of the road for at least a quarter mile, by choice.

"There were no other cars on that side of the road. They had plenty of time, if they were trying to pass people, to get back over," said Justice. "He stayed in my lane and came straight at me."

Raleigh police are continuing to look into the crash.
