Man wanted in Harnett County fatal shooting arrested in Florida

Jones, 31, is accused of murdering a 46-year-old Harnett County man.

Authorities have apprehended a man they believe was involved in a Harnett County homicide from Sunday morning.

On Monday, the Harnett County Sheriff's Office said Tahmeer Jones was apprehended in St. Johns County, Florida. Jones, 31, was wanted on first-degree murder and taken into custody around 12:30 a.m.

At 11:18 a.m. on Sunday, the Harnett County 911 Center received an emergency call in reference to shots fired and a gunshot victim near Winding Ridge in the Carolina Hills subdivision.

Deputies arrived on scene at 11:25 a.m. and found Anthony Antonio Washington, 46, dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

The sheriff's office said Jones ran from the scene.

Jones will be extradited back to North Carolina after being found.
