CorePower Yoga and Growga are teaming up to offer twice weekly classes designed for the whole family.

CorePower is a fitness franchise with more than 200 locations. Growga is a Triangle-based startup offering yoga and mindfulness programs for kids.

The classes will be free, but organizers are encouraging participants donate what they can to local nonprofits working to meet the needs of populations throughout the Triangle particularly hurt by the current COVID-19 pandemic, according to a press release. Classes will take place each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. and will begin this Tuesday, March 31.

The class schedule is designed to mimic CorePower and Growga’s pre-pandemic relationship where parents can take a class focused on their needs while their children participate in a youth-focused yoga class by Growga for ages 3 and up in the same building, according to the release.

“While we can’t be together, we can still meet our clients where they are and provide value as a fitness partner when they need it the most,” says Kathleen Schauer, area manager, CorePower Yoga NC, in the press release. “We’ve been working with Growga to meet the needs of the entire family and we couldn’t be happier to put together these online courses together to support families throughout our community in so many ways.”

The first classes will support to local nonprofits that focus on feeding those in need. All donations from Tuesday’s class will benefit A Place at the Table, a pay-what-you-can restaurant in downtown Raleigh, and No Kid Hungry NC, which works to ensure that kids have the food they need, will receive Thursday’s donations. Donations should be made directly to the nonprofits.

“This unprecedented development has hit every community but none more than those who are most at risk,” says Emily Behr, founder and CEO, Growga, in the release. “We built Growga to provide accessible mindfulness and yoga to all children and families and while we can’t be with our kids in person, we can still be together to support one another.”

Here's the schedule for this week. Classes will be announced each week via both Growga and CorePower Yoga’s social media accounts and newsletter. You also can sign up for the classes on Growga's website.
