The Jewish Federation of Raleigh organized a march Sunday in Chapel Hill calling for the release of the remaining Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

Sunday marked 100 days since the October 7 attacks on Israel by Hamas.

253 hostages were taken by Hamas that day, and 132 are still held captive.

“We feel that it’s very important to mention this day,” Naama Shaked with the federation said. “We are letting everybody know and yelling today that the hostages need to be released now. Not yesterday, not tomorrow, now.”

Since the attacks, a temporary cease-fire allowed 121 hostages to go free, but 33 hostages have been killed or died in Hamas’ captivity since the start of the war.

Elsewhere in downtown Raleigh, pro-Palestinian protesters marched and blocked traffic at some points. The crowd was chanting and carrying Palestinian flags and signs in support of Palestine.

Since Israel began its war with Hamas, over 23,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, and 1,200 people have been killed in Israel.
