Grief expert to share how kids, teens grieve

Donna L. Schuurman, a national grief expert, will lead a discussion this month on how children and teens grieve and how we can help them.

The Shore Grief Center and A Little Hope Foundation are sponsoring the free program, which is 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Feb. 25, at the A.E. Finley Foundation, 1151 Newton Rd., Raleigh.

Schuurman is the senior director of advocacy and training and executive director emeritus with The Dougy Center for Grieving Children & Families, based in Portland, Ore. Schuurman will share how children and teens grieve and how we can help them through bereavement after a death has occurred.

The Wake Forest-based Shore Grief Center offers peer-based grief support for kids ages 6 and up. A Little Hope, based in New York, is a national foundation for grieving children, teens and families.
