Greenville Man Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges
A Greenville man faces charges, including trafficking cocaine and heroin, following a two-year drug investigation, officials said.
Derrick Lamont Hopkins, 35, of 3933 Sterling Point, Apt. III-7, was arrested on one count of trafficking cocaine; two counts of trafficking heroin; three counts of possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine; six counts of possession with intent to manufacture sell/deliver heroin; and three counts of maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for controlled substance.
Hopkins was being held at the Pitt County Detention Center on a $1,540,000 bond.
On Friday, the Greenville Drug Task Force seized approximately 134 grams of cocaine, with a street value of about $13,400. Authorities also seized $8,300 in U.S. currency.
In total, the two-year investigation seized a total of 142 grams of cocaine with a street value of approximately $14,200 and 10.76 grams of heroin having an approximate street value of $18,000.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
