Granville County man arrested, charged in hit-and-run incident in Caldwell County

A Creedmoor man was arrested and charged in a hit-and-run last week in Caldwell County that prompted a search by the N.C. State Highway Patrol.

Charles Steward Bean, 55, of Creedmoor was arrested and charged with felony hit and run. He was arrested at his residence in Granville County by members of the SHP Collision Reconstruction Unit. He was being held at the Granville County Detention Center under a $35,000 bond.

A 2008 Toyota Sienna minivan was located and secured by the SHP, officials said.

The fatal hit-and-run happened on US 221 in Caldwell County on Oct. 10. Ignacio Giraldo, 61, of Sunrise, Fla., died two days later.

Additional charges are pending further investigation and consultation with the Caldwell County District Attorney’s Office.
