Goldsboro man shot, killed in backyard of home on E. Walnut Street

A man was killed after being shot Saturday night in a Goldsboro neighborhood.

At 10:19 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department were dispatched to a home in the 400 block of E. Walnut Street for an unknown disturbance. A short time later, officers received an alert from the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system in the same area.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot multiple times lying in the backyard of the home. The victim, 31-year-old Larry Maurice Saunders, Jr., of Goldsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:48 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
