Get a FREE Credit Report that's REALLY FREE!

As if the name of the site isn't convincing enough, the T-V ads for FREECREDITREPORT.COM use a cute little jingle that makes it seem certain you can get a FREE credit report by visiting the site.  But the truth is-- go there and you'll PAY plenty for a "credit monitoring service."  None of us needs to pay for something we don't need-- ESPECIALLY in this tough economy!

Here’s the deal: by law, you can get one free credit report per year from each of the three credit reporting agencies.   BUT, the only "official" FREE site is www.AnnualCreditReport.com. Again, the ONLY OFFICIAL FREE site where you can get a FREE report is www.AnnualCreditReport.com.

The best thing to do is stagger your requests so that you get one every four months.  But keep in mind, getting your credit SCORE, is NOT free. You have to pay for that-- but you can get it at the same time you get your credit report.
