The chief of police for the Town of Garner announced Thursday that he is leaving the post and has accepted a role as the assistant town manager for Morrisville.

Brandon Zuidema, who has worked for Ganer for 10 years, posted on social media that Nov. 1 would be his last day with the Wake County town. He did not say when he would start his job with Morrisville.

"It's been my honor to spend 26 1/2 years as a law enforcement officer and I'm now looking forward to new challenges," Zuidema tweeted.
