Fuquay-Varina coach suspended after sexual conduct accusation

A Fuquay-Varina teacher and coach was suspended with pay Thursday after a report of sexual misconduct, Wake schools spokesman Michael Evans said.

Mardy Cutchin coaches the women's basketball team at Fuquay-Varina High School and teaches at Fuquay-Varina Middle School. He is accused of having sexual contact with a student.

Fuquay-Varina police are investigating the incident.

During the investigation, Cutchin is banned from property of the Wake County Public School System, Evans said.
