Funeral set for Sanford drowning victim

The funeral for a 5-year-old boy who died this week after being pulled from the swimming area of the Carolina Lakes marina last Sunday is set for this weekend.

A group of children and adults were attending a birthday party at the lake when Elijah Christian Caddick went missing in the water. Rescue crews found Elijah unconscious in the swimming area, and he died at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

His funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Turns Chapel Church.
