Triangle under Hard Freeze Warning overnight Friday

Temperatures will fall throughout Thursday morning, starting off in the 40s by sunrise. It will be even colder Friday, when the viewing area goes under a freeze warning.

For the second night in a row, the Triangle will be under a freeze warning – and on Friday night, it'll be a Hard Freeze Warning.

Temperatures will plunge overnight, possibly dropping even lower than Thursday night.

The normal low for this time of year is 44 degrees, but on Friday, the high is 50 degrees. Gusty winds reaching up to 25mph could make it feel even colder.

A freeze this late in the season is concerning for farmers and delicate plants and vegetation.

With temperatures closer to January than April, plants, pets and pipes should be protected.

"This could be another night with dangerous conditions for fruit crops and budding plants in NC," said Campbell.

When will the springtime warmth return? In time for Easter!

It will start to warm up on Saturday with bright and beautiful skies and highs near 60s.

Easter Sunday will be dry and beautiful, with a high around 70 degrees.

"Temperatures will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s for sunrise services and morning egg hunts though, so keep your jackets handy," said Campbell.
