Many restaurants, retailers and museums are offering free meals, services, admission and discounts to Federal employees who have been furloughed due to the government shutdown. FREE Meal at Fortnight Brewery from AARP on Friday, Jan 25

AARP North Carolina is hosting a free dinner on Friday, January 25, for Federal Employees and those impacted by the government shutdown including local business owners. AARP wants to hear your stories about how you have had to cut spending and they will share some ways North Carolinians can save money now and in the future.

This offer is for Federal Employees and those impacted by the shutdown. Those attending can simply show up and AARP will provide a ticket for dinner. No AARP membership is required. You can show up at any time between 4 pm - 7 pm. There is no formal presentation or program. AARP will have an information table available and an opportunity to join the AARP email list if you would like. Food will provided compliments of AARP North Carolina.

Nasher Museum: Free Admission During Shutdown

The Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University in Durham is offering free general admission to furloughed federal employees (with valid federal government ID) and up to five of their family members during this government shutdown.  Children 17 and under are always free. Romano’s Macaroni Grill: Free Meal During Shutdown

Romano’s Macaroni Grill is offering a FREE Mom’s Ricotta Meatballs + Spaghetti entrée to all furloughed government employees affected by the government shutdown through January 31, or until the government shutdown ends! The offer was originally good until 1/23, but they have extended it.

The offer is valid at any Macaroni Grill location nationwide between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. All government employees can receive one Mom’s Ricotta Meatballs + Spaghetti entrée per person for lunch when they show their credentials (federal ID) while dining-in at any Macaroni Grill location between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. There is one local restaurant at Triangle Town Center at 3421 Sumner Blvd., Raleigh, NC.
