Thousands flock to Franklin Street to celebrate Halloween

Despite Tuesday night's rain, the Halloween party on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill proceeded as planned.

Thousands of attendees, dressed in creative and elaborate costumes, filled the streets for the popular annual celebration.

Surprisingly, Franklin Street was not closed off, as Halloween crowds remained manageable, thanks partly to the significant presence of over 100 officers who provided security amid global tensions.

"People are extra creative with costumes this year. I’ve been seeing some of the most impressive costumes just already on Franklin," Sarah Williams, UNC Junior, said.

On Franklin Street for Halloween celebrations, a Scooby-Doo gang, a Chucky doll, and people in their most memorable costumes could be seen strolling down the street.

"The experience, the people, costumes, Halloween," Edgar Santos Celebrated Halloween, said.

A fun time for Edgar Santos, who took note of the many officers posted up on several streets.

"A lot of police, a lot of security, i feel safe right now," Santos said.

Police monitored the area to keep people safe walking the streets And from any security threats.

A move well-appreciated by a partygoer.

"Security is the number one priority for me. It bothers me a few incidents on campus were terrible," a partygoer said.

And he's referring to an incident on UNC's campus several weeks ago where counter-protestors and protestors clashed about the Israel-Gaza conflict been checking in with officials with Chapel Hill PD.
