Fourth teen accuses Fayetteville teacher of sex abuse

A fourth teen has accused a Fayetteville elementary school teacher of sexual abuse, authorities said Friday.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office and the Fayetteville Police Department each charged Bradley Norman Dent, 47, of 7006 Lamure Drive, with statutory sex offense, engaging in a sexual act with a student and taking indecent liberties with a minor.

Authorities said the alleged crime occurred last June and involved a 15-year-old student who was a member of a study club at Long Hill Elementary School. Dent was a fourth-grade teacher at the school at the time.

Dent was arrested in September after the parents of another 15-year-old reported that Dent forced their son to have sexual contact with him last spring while working as a a part-time counselor at Carolina Counseling Services, at 1318 Raeford Road.

In November, a third 15-year-old who also met Dent through the counseling service accused him of improper sexual contact in 2010.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office also charged Dent in September with alleged crimes involving a 17-year-old.

An employee of Carolina Counseling Services said in September that Dent is a licensed social worker who quit working at the facility a few months earlier.

Dent has resigned from Cumberland County Schools, where he worked for seven years.
