Four people were shot and two died early Saturday at an illegal bar in Edgecombe County, authorities said.

The Edgecombe County Sheriff's Office received a call that multiple shots were fired at at 2 a.m., and when deputies arrived at the scene, two victims were determined to be dead.

The other two shooting victims were transported to a local hospital, where one of them refused medical treatment.

The home where the shooting took place, at 715 East Lashley St. in Pinetops, was operating an illegal bar, according to state Alcohol Law Enforcement. More than 76 liters of malt beverage and almost 30 liters of distilled liquor were seized from the residence, authorities said.

The homeowner, Treesie Shontell Allen, 39, was charged with possession of alcoholic beverages for sale without the applicable ABC permits.

The homicide investigation is ongoing by Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said in a statement that the incident "appears to be isolated."
