A man shot his 6-year-old daughter, his girlfriend and their two friends on Sunday before turning the gun on himself, according to the Wilson County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Daquan Marcato Jones, 32, of Rocky Mount, shot his girlfriend, Kiera Massenburg, 27; their child, Zoey Jones, 6; and two friends before dawn at a home on Weavers Circle in Sharpsburg.

Law enforcement officers said Daquan Marcato Jones, 32, of Rocky Mount, shot four people – a mother, her child, another woman and a man – before dawn at a home on Weavers Circle in Sharpsburg.

Around 5 a.m. on Sunday, deputies and officers with the Sharpsburg Police Department were called to the home, where they found Makyah Page, 27, and Devonte Ricks, 30, with gunshot wounds. The pair, identified as friends of Jones and Massenburg, was taken to Vidant Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Home on Weaver Circle
Authorities said a man and woman were shot inside they home by Daquan Jones. They say Jones then took Kiera Massenburg and her 6-year-old child from the home and to another home on Jamie Road, where he shot them both and then himself. Jones and Massenburg died from their injuries.

Investigators said Jones, who was in a dating relationship with Massenburg, shot the four people then drove away with his girlfriend and their daughter, Zoey.

Deputies said he dropped the girl off at another home then drove Massenburg to his friend's home on Jamie Road in Nash County, according to deputies.

Nash County deputies arrived at the home on Jamie Road, where they found Massenburg dead in the backseat of Jones' car.

A shot rang out, and deputies found Jones dead in a bedroom of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. Investigators believe Jones killed Massenburg and then himself.

Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone said Jones shot himself when he saw deputies pull up in front of the home. The bullet pierced the wall.

EMS employees found the 6-year-old girl at a home on Leigh Road suffering from gunshot wounds.

The little girl is fighting for her life, and Page and Ricks are expected to survive, according to the sheriff's office.

Shaun Alston, a friend of Jones, said he heard Jones walk inside his home on Jamie Road and then gunshots rang out.

"It's like a Lifetime movie," Alston described, explaining he heard, "'Pow ... pow,' and police said 'Get down! Get down!"

According to court record obtained by WRAL News, Jones was charged with felony assault in July in Edgecombe County. According to a police report from the Rocky Mount Police Department, Jones punched Massenburg in the face, knocking out her teeth and fracturing her nose.

Earlier, in November, records show Jones was arrested in Rocky Mount and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting a public officers and communicating threats against Massenburg.

Alston told WRAL News that he had been friends with Jones and his girlfriend for years. He was home when Jones shot himself and police rushed into the home.
