Four NC-based students announced as Rhodes Scholars
Four students who attend universities in North Carolina were announced winners of Rhodes Scholarships on Sunday.
The first winner is Savarni Sanka, of Cary. Sanka is a senior at Wake Forest University where she is majoring in Politics and International Affairs and Spanish with a minor in Middle East and South Asia Studies.
The next winner is Kendall Jeffreys, of Keller, Texas. Jeffreys is a senior at Duke University where she is a double major in Environmental Science and Policy and English.
The third winner is Jamal Burns, of St. Louis, Mo. Burns is a senior at Duke University where he is majoring in history.
The fourth winner is Petter Andriga, of Vienna, Va. He received his bachelor from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2020 where he completed a double major in Journalism and Computer Science.
Recipients of the Rhodes Scholarship are selected on the basis of academic achievement, personal integrity, leadership potential and a commitment to service.
