Firefighters battled a major blaze that destroyed a three-story home near Cary Sunday night.

The fire broke out at about 9 p.m. at 5445 Denberg Lane near Belgium Drive.

Authorities said a lack of water supply caused complications with putting out the fire and that firefighters had to bring in water tankers to help extinguish it. The home was outside of the Cary city limits, and the street is not lined with fire hydrants.

It's unclear what caused the fire. Officials said it was initially reported as an outside fire and that it wasn't until crews arrived at the scene that they realized it was a house fire.

No one was home at the time, and there were no reports of injuries. Investigators were at the home early Monday trying to determine a cause of the blaze.
