Fired K-9 trooper gets police job in Apex

A state trooper fired for kicking his dog is now a police officer in Apex.

Charles Jones was fired in September after cell phone video surfaced showing him kicking his canine partner.

Jones says he was disciplining the dog the way he was trained.

Last month, a judge decided the trooper should get his job back. The State Personnel Commission will have the final say.

A call to Jones at the Apex Police Department was not returned.
