Fire damages Raleigh guitar shop

The Guitar Center, on Capital Boulevard in Raleigh, sustained significant smoke damage during an accidental fire in the store's recording room Friday morning, officials said.

A Raleigh guitar shop sustained significant smoke damage during an accidental fire Friday morning, officials said.

Fire officials said calls about the fire at 3100 Capital Blvd. came in at 7:48 a.m. Over 30 firefighters brought out 13 fire engines to battle the blaze.

Three workers were in the store when the fire broke out, but escaped unharmed.

Fire officials said the fire was contained to the recording room, where it broke out. The rest of the building had significant smoke damage.

Fire investigators ruled that the fire was caused by an equipment failure in the recording room. The fire spread quickly to nearby combustible items.

The Guitar Center sells a variety of new and vintage instruments and musical accessories.

The fire caused traffic backups along Capital Boulevard during the morning rush hour.
