FDA bans Balance of Nature supplements

Supplements sold by Walmart and Amazon are being pulled off the market because of unsupported claims that they can prevent, treat and cure diseases.

The Balance of Nature supplements have never been approved by the FDA, and the capsules filled with ground fruits and vegetables have been under the FDA's microscope for years. In 2019, warning letters were sent to the manufacturer after an inspection revealed violations at their facilities.

The FDA said the company also claimed that its products can be used to prevent, treat and cure diseases, such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes and COVID-19. Those claims have not been proven.

More inspections showed the company was still not compliant. So the case went to court, and a judge ordered Balance of Nature's manufacturer to stop making and selling these products.

WRAL News reached out to Balance of Nature, but the company has not responded to our request for comment.
