An 18-year-old man who was shot in the head early Saturday morning in Fayetteville has died, police said.

William Trower, a recent graduate of Pine Forest High School, was found with a gunshot wound to the head by officers responding to a wreck on Raeford Road. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital and was later transported to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where he died Sunday.

No one has been charged and the investigation is ongoing. Police are trying to determine whether Trower's death is related to a shooting on the same block about 15 minutes earlier.

In that incident, officers were called to a shooting at 6323 Raeford Road, but when they arrived, the victim had already driven himself to Cape Fear Valley Hospital. Joseph Cason, 17, was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and released.
