Fayetteville police reviewing officers' actions in arrest of SC fugitive

The Fayetteville Police Department is reviewing the actions of officers in the Tuesday arrest of a man wanted in South Carolina.

Jerrico Bailey, 33, was apprehended on Raeford Road by Fayetteville officers and members of a U.S. Marshals Service task force, police said.

Bailey was wanted on charges of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a felon. The U.S. Marshals Service said he shot someone three times in Simpsonville, S.C.

The weapon believed to have been used in the attempted murder was seized during the arrest, police said.

Deanna Royal witnessed the arrest and posted a cellphone video on social media that showed a law enforcement officer pointing an assault-style rifle at Bailey's head.

"I want what I witnessed and felt to be heard somehow – and properly," Royal told WRAL News.

"We are aware of a video circulating on social media. Per standard procedure, all actions taken by Fayetteville Police Department officers will be reviewed to ensure our policies and procedures were followed appropriately while getting this violent fugitive out of our community," police said in a statement.
