Fayetteville man arrested, charged with 1st degree murder after Sunday morning shooting

The Fayetteville Police Department is investigating a homicide after a man was shot and killed Sunday morning on Palomino Drive.

On Sunday at 1:32 a.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department were dispatched to a house on Palomino Drive.

When police arrived at the residence, they found a man who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim was identified as Ni’Reash Rayshaun Timmons, 27, of South Carolina.

Police said is appears that Timmons got into an altercation with Elmer Leon Spears, 54, of Fayetteville, and Spears shot him.

Spears was arrested and charged with first degree murder. He is currently being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
