Fayetteville police identify motorcycle driver killed in weekend crash

A Fayetteville man driving a motorcycle died Sunday after a car crash the day before, police said.

At about 5:03 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to the scene near the intersection of Scottsdale Road and Cliffdale Road.

Darryl Porter, 30, was driving a 2002 Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Motorcycle, police said.

According to the police, the driver of a 2007 Nissan Maxima was trying to make a left turn form Scottsdale Road when she collided with Porter.

The driver is not facing charges.

Emergency Medical Service took Porter to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment. He was life-flighted to UNC Health in Chapel Hill for to life-threatening injuries. He died Sunday, police said.

Police said speed was a factor in the crash. Authorities are still investigating the crash.
