Fayetteville police: Greensboro man charged in connection with 2013 rape

A 49-year-old Greensboro man has been charged in connection with a 2013 rape that happened on Bragg Boulevard in Fayetteville, police said.

Robert Frederick Williams, of the 3500 block of Riverside Drive, was taken into custody by Greensboro police on Saturday.

Fayetteville police have charged Williams with first-degree rape, first-degree kidnapping and sexual battery in connection with an alleged sexual assault that happened Oct. 19, 2013.

According to investigators, Williams raped a woman after approaching her in the 1200 block of Bragg Boulevard. The woman said she was approached while walking back to her vehicle after running out of fuel.

The woman said a man pulled up in a Toyota Tacoma and pulled a knife on her before the sexual assault occurred.

Williams was in the Guilford County jail Tuesday being held under a $1 million secured bond.
