The graffiti included swastikas, stars in circles and drawings too graphic to show. But the thing that upset the pastor most is what was spray painted about kids.

Fayetteville church sprayed with graffiti a 2nd time

For the second time in a week, someone has vandalized and spray painted disturbing graffiti on a Fayetteville church wall.

The Greater Unity Tabernacle Christian Church on Gillespie Street is the target.

Pastor Cordelia Challenger couldn't believe her eyes when she arrived at her church on Gillespie Street.

"They're getting bolder because they're attacking the church and they're attacking closer to downtown," she said.

The graffiti included swastikas, stars in circles and drawings too graphic to show. But the thing that upset the pastor most is what was spray painted about kids.

"You don't bring up negative things concerning little kids," Challenger said. "And that particular graffiti, that particular hate, spoke about doing things to little children. You can't go much lower than that."

The church wasn't the only target. Someone spray painted graffiti on the Fayetteville Market House. It was painted over Thursday morning.

The church is located across from the Cumberland County Detention Center. There are security cameras, but unfortunately the church is just out of view.

The Pastor said despite all that's happened, she plans to continue her ministry and helping the less fortunate.

"We're going to keep giving out food every Christmas," Challenger said. "We're going to keep showing that our community matters – and God will prevail."

She said her next step is to try and get some better lighting out side the church and some security cameras along the side of the building.

Meanwhile, anyone with information about what happened out here is asked to contact Fayetteville police or call Crime Stoppers if you want to remain anonymous.
