A family is searching for answers Wednesday after their cat was shot with a pellet gun Tuesday in Cary.

The cat is currently being treated at an animal hospital in Durham.

Frank’s owners said they’ve spent $4,800 on his recovery.

Anastasia Pratt and Kyle Dorsay, the owners of cat named Frank, said a neighbor found him in pain under a truck in their neighborhood.

"We took him to the vet down the street to take a look at him," Pratt said. "We figured it was just another animal attack."

When X-rays came back for Frank, the owners discovered that someone had shot Frank with a pellet gun.

Frank currently faces a long road to recovery, and his care will cost nearly $5,000.

Now, Frank's owners are warning other people of the dangers their pets may face.

“I just wanted to let people know this could happen to anyone, and it is happening out there,” Dorsay said.

Police took statements and are currently investigating. It’s believed that other animals may have been targeted in the neighborhood.

A GoFundMe has been set up in support of Frank.
