A shawdowbox, mistakenly sold, finds its way home to the family of a Marine veteran.

A Charlotte family was reunited with a precious heirloom thanks to a Good Samaritan in Virginia.

Craig Anson purchased a shadowbox at a thrift store in Virginia and tracked Marine Corps medals inside to Jim Edenburn of Charlotte.

When Anson called, Katherine Edenburn answered. Her husband, Jim, had passed away six months earlier. The family had been searching for the box, which was mistakenly auctioned off in a storage locker.

“To most people, it’s a shadowbox with somebody‘s picture in it. To me it’s the world,” Katherine Edenburn said.

“I feel like a part of me has come home,” she said. “It’s just the very best Christmas gift ever.”
