Flying debirs put hole through roof of Durham home

An explosion at a Durham construction site sent debris flying through a nearby neighborhood Thursday afternoon.

Officials said East Coast Drilling and Blasting was blasting rock and clay across the street from a home on Branwell Drive when the explosion sent debris through the roof of a home.

The homeowners told WRAL News that they were downstairs when they felt the vibration of the blast. When they went upstairs to see what had happened, they found a hole through the roof and debris littering the floor.

At least seven homes and two vehicles were also damaged by the flying debris.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities said East Coast Drilling and Blasting' permit has been revoked as a result of the incident.
