Whether you are feeling festive or just want to relax, there's plenty to do in the Triangle this week.

Monday

WRAL Tower Lighting (2619 Western Boulevard, Raleigh) - For 60 years, WRAL and Capitol Broadcasting Company have welcomed the holiday season with the lighting of the 300-foot WRAL-TV tower. Debra Morgan and David Crabtree will host the outdoor event and there will be performances by Brooke Simpson and dancers from the Carolina Ballet's cast of "The Nutcracker."

Flash Chorus (Motorco Music Hall, 723 Rigsbee Avenue, Durham) - Meet at Motorco at 7 for this family-friendly event where you can sing George Michael's "Faith" and Janelle Monae's "Make Me Feel" with a crowd of others.

Tree Lighting (Southern Village, 620 Market Street, Chapel Hill) - The tree lighting on the Village Green will feature dancing, singing, and hot chocolate.

Tuesday

Elf: The Broadway Musical (DPAC, 123 Vivian Street, Durham) - This is the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole, with original songs.

Fall Baking Classes (La Farm Bakery, 4248 NW Cary Parkway) - Learn to bake side-by-side with a master baker in a hands-on format. Three classes will be offered Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tickets are $85.

Open Mic Night (Goodnights, 861 W. Morgan Street, Raleigh) - See 20+ of the best local comedians Raleigh has to offer starting at 8 p.m.

Wednesday

Night Market (The Durham Hotel, 315 E. Chapel Hill Street, Durham) - From 6 to 9 p.m., check off your to-do list with thoughtful gifts from 20 plus top local retailers and makers. There will also be music, champagne and eggnog.

Drinks & Dreidels Raleigh (SkyHouse, 308 S.Blount Street, Raleigh) - Celebrate Chanukah at an exclusive rooftop party. There will be Chanukah-themed cocktails, a grand dreidel tournament, a menorah lighting and a donut and latke bar.

Jingle Ball (N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences, 11 W. Jones Street, Raleigh) - Ticket sales go towards the purchase of thousands of toys and any other need of The Salvation Army of Wake County.

Thursday

Celebration of Southern Food (Lavender Oaks Farm, 3833 Millard Whitley Road, Chapel Hill) - This "moveable feast" will feature dishes prepared by eight prominent area chefs at different stations. Some participants include Sean Fowler of Mandolin in Raleigh, Ricky Moore of Saltbox in Durham, Carrboro Coffee Roasters and Phoebe Lawless. There will be live music. Tickets are $45.

State Capitol Tree Lighting (1 E. Edenton Street) - Join Gov. Roy Cooper for the annual tree-lighting tradition. The festivities begin on Capitol Square at 5 p.m. with luminaries and holiday music by the Kaiser Middle School Eighth Grade Concert Band. At 5:30 p.m. the Raleigh Concert Band will perform. The Capitol’s annual holiday open house will begin at 6:30 p.m. following the ceremony.

Lisa Loeb (A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater, 2 E. South Street, Raleigh) - The touring artist, author and philanthropist is known for her platinum-selling No. 1 hit song "Stay (I Missed You)" from the film Reality Bites.

Ira David Wood III's A Christmas Carol (Raleigh Memorial Auditorium and DPAC) - There will be performances of this holiday classic in both Raleigh (Dec. 5-9) and Durham (Dec. 12-16) up to Christmas week.

Friday

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer: The Musical (A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater, 2 E. South Street, Raleigh) - This holiday favorite plays through Christmas Eve.

St. Nicholas European Christmas Market (Holshauser Building, N.C. State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh) - Shop beautiful new and collectible gifts and decorative items from Ukraine, Poland, Germany and more. Look for folk art, hand-painted ornaments, Polish pottery, matroyshka dolls, Irish knit sweaters, cashmere scarves from Scotland, special gifts for papa, and lots more. There will also be hot foods, caroling and performances.

Beer Dinner with The Dankery (Durty Bull Brewing, 206 Broadway Street #104, Durham) - Try some curated pairings of Durty Bull's craft beer selection alongside shrimp burgers, chicken wings, tenders, and bacon queso fries for $35.
