Cooking for a Classic

Monday

Cooking for a Classic (1705 East, 1705 East Millbrook Road) - This fun, charitable and delicious dinner series kicks off tonight. Enjoy six plated courses by two chefs, a silent auction and a cocktail bar while you vote anonymously along with expert guest judges to determine which chef will win a classic Jeep Scrambler or $15,000 cash. Tickets are $75, and proceeds go to support families at the Lucy Daniels Center. Dinners repeat nightly this week through Thursday.

Lily and Madeleine (Cat's Cradle, 300 E. Main Street, Carrboro) - The sisters boldly explore what it means to be women in the 21st century and aren’t afraid to use their music to call out injustices or double standards. Tickets are $15 day-of.

Tuesday

Open Mic (Goodnights, 861 W. Morgan Street, Raleigh) - See 20+ of the best local comedians Raleigh has to offer starting at 8 p.m.

Impossible Spaces (Block2 Gallery, 233 Fayetteville Street, Raleigh) - This free, new exhibit will be up through April. In it, each of the artists presents a unique vision for the spaces we occupy, creating spaces that are beyond the viewers reach and tension between the real and imagined. The exhibit is open nightly.

Wednesday

Elizabeth Cook (The Pour House Music Hall, 224 S. Blount Street, Raleigh) - New York Times lauds Cook as “a sharp and surprising country singer.” She will perform with Chris Shiflett and Kendell Marvel.

Comedy Night (Neuse River Brewing, 518 Pershing Road, Raleigh) - Grab a beer and catch some of the best comedians in NC. This month's headliner is 2016 NC's Funniest winner Mark Brady. This event is free.

Aaron Lewis (Carolina Theatre of Durham, 309 W. Morgan Street, Durham) - Singer-songwriter Aaron Lewis made his country debut in 2011 with certified gold single “Country Boy” followed by the release of his first full-length solo album, The Road. Tickets start at $42.50.

Nikki Glaser (Goodnights, 861 W. Morgan Street, Raleigh) - Glaser is one of the most sought after young comedians and actors in the comedy world today. She was recently seen as the star of the popular Comedy Central series "Not Safe w/ Nikki Glaser," which featured some of comedy’s funniest voices as they joke, learn, and share their personal stories about sex, relationships, and other taboo topics.

Nerd Nite Raleigh (Kings, 14 W. Martin Street, Raleigh) - Nerd Nite is a monthly event held in more than 100 cities across the globe during which three speakers give 20 minute fun-yet-informative presentations across all disciplines while the audience drinks along. Tickets are $3. Only 21+ will be admitted.

Friday

Jeanne Jolly (The ArtsCenter, 300 E. Main Street, Carrboro) - Jeanne Jolly's artistry encompasses the heartfelt confessional quality of the singer-songwriter tradition, the earthiness of American roots music, a hint of jazz sophistication, and the smoldering emotionality of soul balladry. Tickets are $18.

Eyes Up Here (Neptunes, 14 W. Martin Street, Raleigh) - Tickets for this comedy show featuring all women are just $7. Doors open at 7 p.m. All ages are welcome.

Dixie Deer Classic (State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh) - Advertised as North Carolina's largest family oriented outdoors show, the 39th annual Dixie Deer Classic goes all weekend featuring kids' scavenger hunt, over $50,000 in free door prizes, a fishing pond, live snakes, raptors, and wolves, the Carolina DockDogs jumping competition over 350 exhibitors and celebrity speakers.
