Chapel Hill Opera Director Adds CEO Role in NYC

James E. Schaeffer, executive director of Long Leaf Opera in Chapel Hill since October 2005, has been named chief executive officer of The Center for Contemporary Opera (CCO) in New York City.

James E. Schaeffer, executive director of Long Leaf Opera in Chapel Hill since October 2005, has been named chief executive officer of The Center for Contemporary Opera (CCO) in New York City.

Schaeffer will continue to serve the Long Leaf Opera once he assumes his new role March 18.

Schaeffer is a retired Air Force officer, previous conductor of the Goldsboro Orchestra, and an adjunct professor of business at North Carolina Weslyan College.
