A Grammy-nominated country singer hopes to find a treasure in Durham: toys that children will cherish on Christmas.

The Carolina Theatre of Durham will be collecting toys for a local chapter of the U.S. Marine Corps' Toys for Tots drive before Saturday night's Christmas concert by John Berry.

The tenor said making a difference motivates him to donate his time and talents to several children's charities.

"If there are things we can do that may make a difference in the lives of others, we should make the most of that opportunity," Berry said.

Unwrapped, new toys will be put into vehicles provided by Michael Jordan Nissan. Collection begins at 6 p.m., while the concert starts at 7 p.m.

The Carolina Theatre is located at 309 West Morgan St.
