Elderly man found dead in Fayetteville was shot in leg

An elderly man found deceased inside his car Monday in Fayetteville had been shot in the leg, police said Tuesday.

Shortly before 5 p.m., officers were called to the 500 block of Orlando Street, near Burnett Avenue, about a suspicious vehicle. They found the body of August Allen Hosack, 71, inside his 1994, dark blue Ford Taurus.

Police said he died from injuries associated with being shot once in the leg. They have reclassified the case from a suspicious death to a homicide.
