Driver shot multiple times crashes car

Edgecombe County deputies are investigating a shooting that led to a crash and car fire on Monday afternoon.

According to the sheriff's office, two groups of people exchanged gunfire along the 3000 block of N.C. Highway 111.

One person, a teenager driving in a car, was hit multiple times and drove into a ditch. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Another teen and two men, Kenlan Moore of Tarboro and Shigreggernal Higgs of Pinetops, were arrested on charges of attempted murder.

A third man, Draymond McDowell, of Pinetops, faces the same charge and is wanted by law enforcement. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Edgecombe Communications at 252-641-7911.
