ECU offers Charlotte Catholic passer Charlie Smith
East Carolina University is the first to offer Charlotte Catholic rising senior quarterback Charlie Smith. He announced the news to his X account on Tuesday.
The Pirates are the second in-state school to make an offer, after Gardner-Webb did so earlier in February.
Smith is 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds.
His first offer came from Toledo on Jan. 24. Since then, he has been offered by UConn, Marshall, Yale, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Penn, Cornell, Middle Tennessee State, Gardner-Webb, and now ECU.
Last fall was his first season starting at Catholic. Smith completed 100-of-160 passing attempts for 1,603 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown.
Charlotte Catholic finished the season with a 9-4 overall record and made it to the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 4A West playoffs.
