DWI offender faces murder charge in wreck that killed sister

A man with a history of convictions for driving while impaired is wanted on a second-degree murder charge in a Fayetteville wreck last February that killed his sister.

Fayetteville police charged Richard Boyd White Jr., 27, of the 6600 block of Morning Glory Drive in Stedman, Friday in the Feb. 8 wreck on Bragg Boulevard.

Police said that Richard White lost control of car, sending it off the road into a utility pole.

Elizabeth White, 22, who was in the front seat, was killed. Richard White was critically injured, and a second passenger, 33-year-old Carl Chipman of Fayettevile, suffered minor injuries.

Richard White had a suspended license at the time, police said. He has two DWI convictions from 2007, along with convictions for assault on a female and drug offenses, according to state Department of Correction records.

He is described as a white man, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 210 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
