Durham, Raleigh events offered for rising kindergartners

Rising kindergartner can celebrate the start of their school careers with special free events in the next couple of weeks.

Durham County Public Schools' Countdown to Kindergarten is 5:45 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the Museum of Life and Science, 433 W. Murray Ave., in Durham. The free event is for Durham Public Schools' rising kindergarten children and their parents. The aim is to promote a smooth start for the upcoming school year.

And Marbles Kids Museum in Raleigh will hold Kick-off to Kindergarten from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Aug. 16, for rising kindergartners heading to traditional calendar schools. The free event for those kids and their families includes PE classes, music classes, meet and greets with UNC-TV characters and more.
