Durham police are searching for the person they say shot at multiple cars and homes Monday night, sending one person to the hospital.

According to Durham police, officers responded to an initial report of damaged property in the 3600 block of Four Seasons Drive. When they arrived, they found a woman in a black Jeep Cherokee.

The woman told officers she had been shot at by “a suspect” as she turned onto Four Seasons Drive from Tralea Drive. Police tell WRAL News that the woman was coming from a store at Fayetteville Street and Cook Road.

She drove away from the suspect’s vehicle and crashed into another car on Four Seasons Drive. Officers said the woman was not injured in the shooting, but sustained injuries related to the crash.

Police said three cars, including the woman’s car, and three homes were shot.

“It was loud enough to feel like it could have been in our backyard,” said Gregory O’Cavson, who lives nearby. “Not knowing where it was or what direction it was happening in ... If something had come into our kids room, yeah, it's a really scary feeling.”

Shortly after the incident, officers learned a man walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound. The man said he was shot near the Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and Cook Road.

The man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact Investigator J. Berkstresser at 919-560-4440 ext. 29538 or CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200.
