Durham police investigating fatal shooting

The Durham Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that happened Saturday morning on N.C. Highway 54.

At 1:38 a.m., officers responded to a gunshot wound in the 2200 block of N.C. 54.

When officers arrived, witnesses said the victim was placed in a vehicle and left the scene. While officers were on the way to the hospital, an occupant of the vehicle called 911 for help. Officers made contact with the victim and the occupants of the vehicle at the hospital. The victim, 30-year-old Aaron Parker, of Durham, died at the hospital.

This is an ongoing investigation, and there are no suspects in custody at this time.

This appears to be an isolated incident.
