Durham home goes up in flames, one person escapes safely

At approximately 12:20 a.m., the Durham Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 5800 block of Shamrock Road. When firefighters arrived, flames could be seen coming from the roof.

No injuries from Durham house fire

A house went up in flames Tuesday morning in Durham.

At approximately 12:20 a.m., the Durham Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire in the 5800 block of Shamrock Road. When firefighters arrived, flames could be seen coming from the roof. One person was in the home but was able to escape without injury.

One viewer sent WRAL News video footage of the home being engulfed in flames.

The house sustained heavy smoke, fire and water damage. No one was injured.

Investigators said the fire was accidental and started in a bedroom.
