Durham County Courthouse reopens after bomb threat

Durham police are telling people to avoid the area surrounding the Durham County Courthouse in downtown.

Durham police closed a section of downtown due to a bomb threat at the Durham County Courthouse on Friday morning.

According to police, 911 communications received the report of a bomb threat around 9:24 a.m. The building was evacuated and police closed down surrounding streets. By 11:45 a.m., the building reopened.

An explosives K9 searched the building, and 'everyone is secure,' according to police.

Street closures due to bomb threat

Dillard St. is closed from S. Roxboro St. to S. Mangum St.

S. Mangum St. is closed from Pettigrew St. to Jackie Robinson Drive.

Durham County Sheriff’s Office is the primary agency handling the incident, and the Durham Police Department is assisting with traffic control.
