Dunn bakery becomes social media sensation

A small bakery in Dunn has become a social media sensation after its owner baked a cake that looks like an Amazon package.

In July, Mac McGuire of Sanford wanted the bakery to make a birthday cake for his wife that looked exactly like an Amazon package.

Now, people everywhere want a piece.

"My wife, she's got a God-given talent to do the decorating she does," said Brent Norris of his wife, Trena.

The couple owns Inspirational Grounds Coffee House and Sweet Dreams Bakery in Dunn.

McGuire said his wife, Emily, loves receiving Amazon packages. And after receiving the special cake, she posted a picture to her Facebook page.

Amazon shared it on its own Facebook and Instagram accounts. Then, the wave of calls began.

"For a few days it was a little overwhelming just seeing that many requests for that cake," Brent Norris said.

Every bit of it, from the lettering to the labeling, is edible. But it seems you can't have your Amazon cake and ship it, too.

"No, I'm scared the cake will get turned upside down and it's ruined," Trena Norris said.

Norris says this isn't the most unusual cake creation she's done. She's previously designed cakes to look like possums, skeletons and sewing machines.
