Duke becomes first in-state school to offer Cardinal Gibbons soph. Braylon Peebles

It is Peebles' fourth overall offer. All four have come in the month of December.

Cardinal Gibbons High School sophomore defensive back Braylon Peebles has received an offer from Duke University.

Peebles shared the news to his X account on Tuesday evening.

It is the fourth overall offer and first from an in-state school for the 5-foot-10, 165-pound class of 2026 athlete. His first offer came from the University of Louisville on Dec. 5. Southern Methodist University followed on Dec. 8 and Virginia Tech extended a verbal offer on Dec. 13.

This fall, Peebles racked up an incredible 169 total tackles. That number included five tackles for a loss and a sack. He also caught three interceptions, broke up eight passes, forced three fumbles, and recovered five fumbles. The sophomore scored touchdowns on a punt return, fumble return, and interception return. He had 33 total tackles as a freshman during the 2022 season.

Cardinal Gibbons finished the 2023 campaign with a 12-3 overall record and as the runner-up in the 4A East region.
